“Naked Book” Recycling Program

Earth Day 2010. Pictured left to right are Claire Gonye, Christine McNeill, Anna Gonye, Ashley Rose McNeill, Elizabeth Gonye and Matthew McNeill.

The “Naked Book” Recycling Program was developed by longtime Success Won’t Wait volunteers Ashley McNeill and Elizabeth Gonye in response to a sharp increase in the number of unusable books we received.

These books were torn, stained, yellowed, or otherwise unusable. Ashley investigated the options and found Abitibi Retriever, an organization which collects paper for recycling.

Now, volunteers at Success Won’t Wait remove unusuable book covers rendering them “naked.” Our new drop site (May 2012) is located behind the Success Won’t Wait offices at Marsh and Silverside Roads, North Wilmington, Delaware.

Using the Paper Retriever, old books get new life! Pictured are Success Won’t Wait volunteers Ashley Rose McNeill and Jacob Sackett-Sanders.

Since 2009, the program has generated over 15,000 lbs. of paper for recycling!
