Earlier this week, Success Won’t Wait, Inc. collected its 700,000th book for literacy programs nationwide. Since 2002, Success Won’t Wait has organized dozens of book drives, calling on residents to donate new and gently used books for redistribution in the community.
In addition to ongoing donations from local citizens, several recent large scale donations helped nudge Success Won’t Wait over the edge and reach this goal. These included a massive donation of new books from a local bookstore which was downsizing, community service projects from several high school volunteers, and even a 2,000+ book donation from a local author.
“Reaching the 700,000 book milestone is very exciting,” says Success Won’t Wait Co-Founder and Vice President Vincenza Carrieri-Russo. “The people of Delaware have been very generous. We are so appreciative because these donations make it possible for us to continue our important literacy programs.”
Recent program include an ongoing mission to supply books to patients at Nemours Pediatrics Clinics, a program to stock recreation areas in low-income senior centers, and a current 10,000 book donation to K-12 schools in Camden, NJ.
