This fall, Success Won’t Wait volunteers have, once again, been busily restocking Little Free Libraries across Delaware!

Since 2010, the Little Free Library organization has provided residents across the country and around the globe with easy, free access to books. In fact, there are more than 175,000 of these mini libraries and this massive program is entirely volunteer led and operated.

Why do we love Little Free Libraries here at Success Won’t Wait? The tiny libraries have a big impact by providing 24/7 access to books, especially in areas where books are scarce. Over the past 14 years, over 400 million books have been shared!

Access to books is essential, not just for children, but for people of all ages.  According to the experts at Little Free Libraries, “We are facing a growing literacy crisis. Today in the United States, more than 30 million adults cannot read or write above a third-grade level. Studies have repeatedly shown that books in the hands of children have a meaningful impact on improving literacy. The more books in or near the home, the more likely a child will learn and love to read. But two out of three children living in poverty have no books to call their own.”

Sharing the Little Free Library’s vision, “a book for every reader,” Success Won’t Wait has been proud to be a partner in the program’s success throughout Delaware and our surrounding states since 2010.
