This week is Children’s Book Week! This event is part of the longest-running national literacy initiative in the country, encouraging young people to participate in events at their schools, public libraries, and local bookstores.
Established in 1919, Children’s Book Week is a celebration of life-changing literature and the connection these books bring. This beloved program continues to grow and adapt each year with new resources from Every Child a Reader and ideas for joining in. There are so many ways to celebrate as an individual, a family, a group, and a community! Here are just a few:
- Display the Official poster by Julie Flett with coloring page
- Share exclusive new bookmarks and activity pages by children’s book superstars
- Spread the word about Book Week with new promotional materials for locations hosting events
- Join the Story Ocean Club
- Use “It’s Book Week” coloring pages in 15 different languages
- Share the Draw-Your-Own bookmark page
Have a favorite children’s book? We’d love to hear about it!
