This week, the free mini library at the Claymont Community Center (CCC) received a fresh restock, thanks to dedicated volunteers from Success Won’t Wait. It’s the third time the shelves have been replenished this year, and for good reason.

What began as a temporary display in celebration of Black History Month has turned into a much-loved permanent fixture. The mini-library has quickly become a favorite stop for readers of all ages. Its success is a powerful reminder that when books are accessible, communities respond (with enthusiasm!).

With help from Success Won’t Wait volunteers, the mini library remains filled with a wide range of titles for every age group, from pre-K board books, to elementary school picture books, to popular novels and non-fiction for teens and adults, plus so much more. The CCC mini library offers something for everyone who walks through the doors.

Of course, the mini library is just one part of the bigger picture. The CCC is a vital resource for local residents, offering a wide range of programs and services year-round, but especially during the busy summer months. From the Claymont Learning Center, which provides educational opportunities for all ages, to Empowered Youth, which supports local teens, to the vibrant Brandywine Senior Center, the CCC is truly a hub for the whole community.

For such a busy community, the mini library is strategically located in the heavily trafficked entrance lobby. Whether someone is visiting for a class, attending a program, or just stopping by, they can also browse the shelves, pick up a book, and take it home (no sign-out required). And when they’re done? They can keep it, bring it back for someone else to enjoy, or replace it with a favorite title of their own.
