Today, Success Won’t Wait volunteers donated 250+ children’s books to the Friends of the Hockessin Library for the November Used Book Sale. The holiday-themed book sale will be held on November 21-22, 2025 in the Community Room of the Hockessin Library. (1023 Valley Rd., Hockessin, DE 19707)

Success Won’t Wait has proudly partnered with the Friends group since 2005, contributing tens of thousands of books over the past two decades. We continue to support their efforts because their programs make such a meaningful difference in the community.

Used Book Sales benefit library and library programs, as well as ongoing book and technology replenishment. Success Won’t Wait’s donation today of 250+ books is merely a drop in the bucket compared to the thousands of amazing books which will be available at the event… but it’s a start!

About the Friends of the Hockessin Library  

The first library in Hockessin was established in 1934, housed in the former Crossroads School building at the corner of Valley Road and Lancaster Turnpike. Known then as The Lamborn Library, it was entirely run by volunteers and, beginning in 1961, received regular visits from the New Castle County Bookmobile.

As the community grew and the demand for expanded library services increased, the Friends of the Hockessin Library was founded in 1975 as a nonprofit, tax-exempt organization dedicated to promoting and supporting the local library. Thanks to their advocacy and fundraising efforts, county funding was secured, leading to the establishment of the Hockessin Public Library in 1977.

Since then, the Friends group has played a vital role in the library’s ongoing growth—supporting the expansion of the original building, the construction of a new facility in 1994, and an additional expansion in 2008. Beyond infrastructure, the Friends continue to fund essential materials, equipment, and community programs that keep the library a vibrant hub for learning and connection.
