February 4, 2026 is World Read Aloud Day. Established to create a worldwide reading community and advocate for literacy as a human right, the event includes millions of readers each year, who honor the joy of reading aloud. All across the world, teachers, parents and caregivers experience what reading aloud to children can do in just one day. And, they take that knowledge back with them to classrooms and the home.
Research consistently shows that reading aloud builds powerful neural pathways which contribute to a child’s emotional wellbeing and academic success. When a child is read to, they are transported to a world of possibility, joy and magic! They also learn to form deep connections to themselves and the people around them.
