Over the past 22 years, Success Won’t Wait has been proud to partner with many local and national non-profits to encourage reading, particularly by children. Recently, we were introduced to the amazing staff at Family Promise, a Northern New Castle County non-profit dedicated to assisting families experiencing homelessness regain their independence.

Family Promise unites the local community to provide shelter, case management, food security and supportive services. Founded in 2008, the organization has consistently grown over the years, and now serves more than 150 families experiencing homelessness each year. That growth includes a major expansion… as well a major clear out of the existing space!

In order not to waste important resources, Community Engagement Manager Lisa M. Kane, MSW, LCSW reached out to Success Won’t Wait to “share the wealth” and donated hundreds of like-new K-12 children’s books. These books were originally donated to Family Promise, but due to the expansion, cannot be stored.

Not only will these books be used by Success Won’t Wait for current projects and book giveaways throughout New castle County, we’ve also agreed to help fill the Family Promise library, once construction of the new facility is complete. The new location, 2501 Milltown Rd. Wilmington, DE 19808, will expand the Family Promise footprint in the community will double the amount of shelter they are able to offer.
