In October 2007, Success Won’t Wait was contacted by the Turn 2 Foundation, founded by Derek Jeter. The foundation partners with the New York City Parks and Recreation Department to administer free after school programs that reach almost 400 children in the boroughs of Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens and the Bronx. Since its launch in 1996, the Turn 2 Foundation, Inc. has awarded more than $48 million to create and support signature programs that motivate young people to turn away from drugs and alcohol and “Turn 2” healthy lifestyles.

We prepared and donated several hundred books to the program, to encourage reading by children who may live in book deserts. (To learn more about book deserts, please read our recent article, “What are Book Deserts… and Do You Live in One?“)
