Success Won’t Wait literacy volunteer Matt McNeill named 2011 Youth in Philanthropy Award Winner

Congratulations to Success Won’t Wait literacy volunteer Matt McNeill! Matt was recently was named the 2011 recipient of the Youth in Philanthropy Award by the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP), Brandywine Chapter.

The award will be presented at the annual National Philanthropy Day celebration. This year’s event will be held on Wednesday, November 16, 2011 from 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. at the Deerfield Golf and Tennis Club in Newark, Delaware.

The event honors individuals and organizations that have made a significant impact on a philanthropic cause, project, or program through effective leadership, fundraising, and volunteer support.  Matt was nominated by Success Won’t Wait co-founder Vincenza Carrieri-Russo for his dedication to the organization over the course of nine years.

The Awards Selection Committee was comprised of Fred C. Sears II, President and CEO, Delaware Community Foundation; Peter C. Morrow, Executive Director, Welfare Foundation and 2009 Philanthropy Award Recipient; and Janis Julian, Senior Vice President and Director of Community Strategy, WSFS Bank.

Other event honorees include Sonia S. Sloan for the Lifetime Achievement Award; Barclays Bank for the  Philanthropy Day Award; and Jane P. Wilkie for the Volunteer Award.

The Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) represents 30,000 members in 207 chapters throughout the world, working to advance philanthropy through advocacy, research, education and certification programs. The association fosters development and growth of fundraising professionals and promotes high ethical standards in the fundraising profession.
