Success Won’t Wait donates 150 children’s books to Montclair PAL’s new literacy program

Montclair PAL Board Member Mr. Sandy Sorkin poses with just a few of the 150 children's books donated to the PAL Center.

Now that he is no longer at Temple University, college professor Sandy Sorkin has some time for his own community — and boy are we glad!  Years ago, Mr. Sorkin introduced us to the Philadelphia Police Athletic League (PAL), where he is a Board member. Over the years, we’ve completed numerous projects for the 20+ centers in the city. Now, in addition to Philadelphia PAL, he is also on the Montclair PAL Board.

The Montclair PAL (New Jersey) is considerably smaller than PhillyPal, but with Mr. Sorkin’s guidance they have big plans ahead! This fall the organization will be offering an enrichment program for 1st through 5th graders.  As part of the literacy program, Success Won’t Wait partnered with Montclair PAL and provided 150 age-appropriate books which will be used to encourage students to read at home.
