2013 Jefferson Awards Ceremony honors exceptional student volunteers in Delaware including Success Won't Wait volunteer Christine McNeillOn Thursday May 1, the Jefferson Council of The Charter School of Wilmington honored the school’s monthly winners with the prestigious Jefferson Award for Public Service. Honorees included freshman Christine McNeill, a Success Won’t Wait volunteer for over 10 years.

Christine was recognized for her ongoing literacy efforts, as well as for her leadership in the Epic Book Drive, which resulted in a donation of over 8,200 books to flood victims in New Orleans.

The Jefferson Awards are presented on two levels: national and local.

They began in 1972 to create a Nobel Prize for public service.Today, their primary purpose is to serve as a “Call to Action for Volunteers” in local communities.
