Recently, A.I. duPont High School in Greenville, Delaware began celebrating some of its outstanding graduates with a new A. I. duPont high School Hall of Fame. This year, the Hall of Fame inducted Success Won’t Wait’s co-founder Vincenza Carrieri-Russo as a member!
Vincenza, a 2003 graduate of the school, was honored in the School / Community category which recognizes individuals who have contributed to the success of the school, in the community, and in the State of Delaware. Additional categories which were recognized include Athletics and Academics.
The Hall of Fame festivities coincided with A.I. DuPont High School’s Homecoming and included a commemorative plaque installation and an Induction Ceremony at the football field during halftime.
In addition to the Hall of Fame, Vincenza has been honored with several prestigious awards for her ongoing literacy efforts like the State of Delaware Jefferson Award, the Daily Point’s of Light Award as the Nation’s Volunteer of the Day, the Governor’s Outstanding Volunteer Award, and many more. She even had a day named after her in the city of Newark, “Vincenza Carrieri-Russo Day.” In 2006, Vincenza was honored with the National Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis Award for outstanding community service, which is considered to be the Nobel Prize for volunteerism. She is currently a member of the Board of Directors of The Jefferson Awards.
