Have you ever met a birthday boy who gave away all of his gifts? No? Then, I’d like to introduce you to Arjan.
For his birthday this year, this compassionate fourth grader asked his friends to forego the gifts. Instead he suggested that everyone bring books to his party so that he could donate them to Success Won’t Wait!
Earlier today, Arjan (Independence School), younger brother Rai (Hockessin Montessori), and mom delivered bags and bags (and bags!) of beautiful children’s books to our offices — everything from ABCs and 123s to kids’ chapter books.
This is not the first time Arjan and his family have committed such a selfless act. Instead, they make this a regular practice for most birthdays and have donated books to other organizations in need, like the Fraim Center – Boys and Girls Club in Elsmere, Delaware.
The books that Arjan donated today are already earmarked for several ongoing projects including a book-per-visit program for young children with A.I. duPont Hospital clinics throughout the state, Nativity Prep middle school in Wilmington, and even a new Pancakes for Peace K-3rd grade outreach program in the city.
Many thanks to Arjan, his entire family, and all of the attendees of his party!
