ORION of Phoenixville, PA offers hope for individuals and families experiencing hardship due to poverty, disability or illness by building bridges that lead to self-reliance. Operating under the belief that every person deserves shelter, food, clothing, transportation and access to healthcare, ORION responds to the unmet needs of the most vulnerable residents with creativity, compassion and collaboration.
So, when ORION contacted Success Won’t Wait about providing K-8 children’s books for children in difficult circumstances, we jumped right into action!
Through our on-going partnership with the Mt. Pleasant High School (Wilmington, Delaware) special needs program, we put two communities together with a common purpose. The teens from the high school sorted, counted and categorized the books — over 1,000, so far! The teens learn valuable skills for resume building. And, the children that ORION serves receive age-appropriate books that they can take home and keep.
Huge thanks goes to Samantha Grandy, who works on site at Success Won’t Wait to supervise the Mt. Pleasant teens each week. And, another big thank you goes to Marti Wilson and Katie Hynes, pictured, who made the trek from Phoenixville, PA loaded the van to the roof, and delivered the books to ORION!
