Success Won’t Wait receives a donation of 1,000+ brand new children’s books!

Success Won't Wait Book Donation from Wilmington Children's Librarian Kerry GleasonBook donations are the lifeblood of Success Won’t Wait, and most of our books come from individuals. A typical donation might include a small box of children’s books that families have outgrown or a handful of best sellers which have already been enjoyed.

And occasionally, we have a truly incredible, enormous donation.

One such was a recent book donation of pre-K-5th grade books which was put together by Kerry Gleason, the Youth Services Librarian at the Wilmington Library. Kerry had learned about the Caesar Rodney book tree program and wanted to help.

Using a grant, Kerry ordered over 1,000 brand new pre-K-5th grade books from Scholastic Books, which were shipped to our location. The books run the gamut from classic read-aloud faves such as Goodnight Moon and Corduroy, to first readers such as the Biscuit series, to chapter books including The Magic Tree House, Cam Jansen and Horrible Harry. There were even dozens of books in Spanish, for bilingual students.

These books will be used for the book trees, as well as other current children’s programs in need throughout Delaware.

We are grateful to Kerry Gleason, the Wilmington Library, and Scholastic Books for this amazing donation. Delaware’s children thank you!
