Success Won’t Wait Provides 750+ Books to the Literacy Council of Norristown (LCN)

This week, Success Won’t Wait volunteers connected with the Literacy Council of Norristown (LCN) to provide over 750 books for their various literacy initiatives. The organization, which is based in Norristown, Pennsylvania, has a mission to improve lives and strengthen families in Greater Norristown and Montgomery County by providing adult literacy and English language programs.

LCN was founded in 1984 by a group of dedicated Montgomery County citizens, led by Katharine Dosch, to provide tutoring to students who wanted to earn their high school equivalency or improve their reading and math skills. Since then, LCN has grown to meet the increasing need for a wide variety of literacy programs and services.  In 1990, LCN added English classes for speakers of other languages. In 1998, LCN added a Workplace Literacy Project at an employer site emphasizing basic workplace skills. And, the community-based literacy projects just continue to grow, in order to meet the needs of the Norristown and greater Montgomery County communities.

Many thanks to longtime Success Won’t Wait supporter Larry Jilk for connecting Success Won’t Wait with LCN. And, a huge thank you to LCN Executive Director Eileen Hallstrom for facilitating the book pick-up and even filling her personal vehicle!
