At Success Won’t Wait, we believe in the power of book access. And, in addition providing large scale book donations to schools, after school programs, community centers and more over the past two decades, we’ve also embraced the Little Free Library model. In fact, the Success Won’t Wait Little Free Library, located at 1 Ice Cream Drive in North Wilmington, Delaware, officially opened in 2026.

Little Free Library boxes are open 24/7 and are freely accessible to all readers. There are more than 200,000 Little Free Library book-sharing boxes around the world. And, in good news for Delaware, there about to be quite a few more!

Thanks to the support of New Castle County Council President Monique Williams-Johns (pictured), New Castle County will soon be receiving new boxes, especially focusing on the city of Wilmington. The goal? Get kids reading… and keep them reading!

Many areas, particularly in the city, are considered “book deserts.” The term was coined by Unite For Literacy to call attention to serious inequalities that negatively impact children’s reading development. According to researcher Susan Neuman, for children growing up in neighborhoods of concentrated poverty, book deserts severely hamper their ability to come to school ready to learn.  

Once locations for the new book boxes have been confirmed and the Little Free Libraries installed, Success Won’t Wait will supply books for all children of all ages, from pre-K to picture books, emerging reader chapter books to teen favorites.
