The members of Girl Scout Troop #969 think BIG! So, when they brainstormed an idea to earn their Girl Scout Bronze Award, they set a goal – deliver over 1,000 children’s books throughout the tri-state area through the literacy organization Success Won’t Wait’s ongoing children’s book basket program.
The Girl Scout Bronze Award is a leadership adventure and the highest honor a Girl Scout Junior can achieve, but to earn this prestigious award, the girls need to work hard. A minimum of 20 hours are required to build a team, explore the local community for a need-based project, create a project, plan it, and put plan in motion, all while spreading the word!
Over the past several weeks, Girl Scout Troop #969 has been hard at work cleaning, repairing, and stamping over 1,000 children’s books which will be distributed via book baskets. Ultimately, these baskets will be delivered by the troop members to a variety of locations where children often wait – hair salons, karate studios, car repair shops, and more. The books will offer children a positive opportunity to read during moments that might simply be wasted.
