Research has shown that children who are read aloud to by their parents at least 15 minutes a day have better family relations, can concentrate better, are better readers, better thinkers, better speakers, get better grades in school, have less drug usage and eventually have happier marriages. WOW!

These, and other important read-aloud statistics and facts are found in Jim Trelease’s New York Times best-selling book The Read-Aloud Handbook. This book is the basis for the PXV Read-Aloud project in Phoeniville, Pennsylvania. The brainchild of resident Larry Jilk, this is a project that reaches at risk pre-K children and provides literary-rich environments at centers throughout the area.

To support this great work, earlier this week, Success Won’t Wait volunteers donated 700 children’s books to the program!
