Although Success Won’t Wait’s mission is to encourage reading, when we saw the devastation left in the wake of Hurricane Sandy, we knew we had to do something! Johanna Carrieri-Russo, who has been a Success Won’t Wait volunteer since 2002, has spearheaded a massive effort to collect and distribute much-needed warm clothing to hard-hit areas of New York like Breezy Point, Coney Island and more.
Johanna’s first trip to the area last week included a van loaded to the roof with warm clothing. Several more trips are planned, the first of which will occur on Saturday, November 10. But, we desperately need your help! We need:
- Warm clothing for women, men, kids, and babies
- Sweaters
- Sweatshirts
- Winter coats
- Winter hats, gloves and scarves
- New socks
Your donations are so appreciated!
To speed the sorting process, we respectfully ask that all clothing be clean and in good repair with no tears, missing buttons, or broken zippers. Clothing may be gently used, however, when donating socks, only new items can be accepted.
Clothing can be dropped off at the Success Won’t Wait office/warehouse at:
1729 Marsh Road
Wilmington, Delaware 19810
10 am – 2 pm Monday through through Friday
This is an ongoing effort. Thank you so much for your support of this project!
