Success Won’t Wait literacy volunteer Christine McNeill receives prestigious Jefferson Award for community service!

Veteran Success Won’t Wait literacy volunteer and Charter School of Wilmington freshman Christine McNeill was recently honored with a Jefferson Award for outstanding community service. Christine has been a literacy volunteer for over 10 years and has helped organize annual  book drives, has cleaned, labeled and sorted tens of thousands of children’s books, and has also attended over 40 of the organization’s special events!

The Jefferson Awards are a prestigious national recognition system honoring community and public service in America. The awards are presented on two levels: national and local. The program began in 1972 to create the equivalent of the Nobel Prize for public service.

In recent years, The Jefferson Awards has joined with Deloitte & Touché to encourage volunteering in high schools, teaching high school students lifelong leadership skills and passing the tradition of service on to the next generation!

Congratulations Christine!
