Get a free children’s book with your ice cream cone at Ice Cream Delight in North Wilmington, Delaware

ice-cream-delight-photoDid you know that July is National Ice Cream Month? Yup — it’s true! In 1984, President Ronald Reagan designated July as National Ice Cream Month. Besides being a great way to beat the summer heat, now there’s another reason to go out for ice cream — Ice Cream Delight, in a unique partnership with Success Won’t Wait, will provide hundreds of books to local children through the “Make Kids Smile Program!”

The brainchild of Success Won’t Wait co-founders Vincenza Carrieri-Russo and Susan McNeill, the Make Kids Smile Program offers free children’s books to anyone who visits a partner location. The program launched in 2012 at Ice Cream Delight, located at the corner of Marsh and Silverside Roads in North Wilmington (The Marsh Triangle). Several hundred new and gently used books were given away to kids of all ages, from pre-K through high school. In 2013, the hope is to give away a total of 1,000 books before the store closes for the season in October!
