Success Won’t Wait donates 550+ children’s books to the Claymont Boys and Girls Club

2013 Claymont Boys and Girls ClubLast year, long-time Success Won’t Wait volunteer Christine McNeill completed work on a “300-book mini-library” in the Teen Center at the Claymont Boys and Girls Club.

Then, over the summer, Christine (a Charter School of Wilmington sophomore) and Anna Gonye (a Charter senior) got busy finding book donations for the K-5th graders who also use the Boys and Girls Club.

Today, over 550 children’s books were delivered to the Claymont location! The books were labeled by the girls according to age category and were divided amongst the various age-specific classrooms.

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Delaware serves more than 20,500 youth annually. In fact, it services 1 out of every 5 school-aged children in the state! And, the Boys & Girls Clubs of Delaware is the largest licensed provider of before-and after-school care in the state, so these books will see a lot of use!

Many thanks to volunteers Christine McNeill and Anna Gonye for their hard work and to Vincenza Carrieri-Russo who handled the delivery (and all the heavy lifting!).
