Wilbur Elementary receives almost 1,200 children’s books from Success Won’t Wait

Wilbur Elementary receives almost 1,200 children's books from Success Won't WaitSuccess Won’t Wait recently donated almost 1,200 books to Wilbur Elementary School in Delaware’s Colonial School District. The event was part of the special book giveaway for all K-5th grade students in the school district led by Success Won’t Wait’s co-founder Vincenza Carrieri-Russo.

The donation included plenty of just-can’t-put-it-down-books for the school’s young students. A few favorites include series such as the Magic Tree House, the Time Warp Trio, Nancy Drew, and Harry Potter. These books were culled from Success Won’t Wait’s collection and are books that the students may take home and keep.

In addition to helping the students choose the perfect book at each of the book events, Vincenza also makes it a point to chat with the students about the importance of reading. They even practice reading as if we are practicing a sport, because if you want to get good at reading, you have to practice. And, for this event, even Miss Delaware United States 2018, the lovely Charity Cramer, was there to lend a hand!

Wilbur Elementary receives almost 1,200 children's books from Success Won't WaitOver the next several weeks, Success Won’t Wait co-founder Vincenza Carrieri-Russo will visit each of the other elementary schools in the District to speak to the students about the importance of reading. At its conclusion, the program will provide a book for every K-5th grade student in the Colonial School District.

Putting together such a large-scale donation was no easy feat. Luckily, our student volunteers from the Mount Pleasant High School Special Education Program were essential in the project’s sorting, categorizing and stamping of hundreds of children’s books.
