Success Won’t Wait Stocks 7 New Castle County Little Free Libraries

Success Won’t Wait Stocks 7 Delaware Little Free LibrariesWith many schools and public libraries closed due to the pandemic, Little Free Library book-sharing boxes are more important than ever! The Little Free Library organization is the world’s largest creator of those small wooden book-sharing boxes that you find in parks, community open spaces or in front of homes. The premise behind the Little Free Libraries is that anyone can take a book or give a book.

So, when Success Won’t Wait was approached by District 2 New Castle County Council Member Dee Durham to help stock 15 brand new Little Free Library boxes in Delaware, we knew we needed to help!

Durham was instrumental in the new ordinance that allows the book sharing boxes in neighborhoods throughout New Castle County, Delaware. She says Ordinance 20-038 was prompted by recent inquiries from residents asking about the legal status and requirements of the pop-up bookstands.

This week, Success Won’t Wait volunteers put together seven “starter sets” for seven of the 15 new boxes. Many thanks to Chris Counihan, Legislative Aide to Councilwoman Durham (pictured) for handling the donation and making sure the books are available to New Castle County residents.
