The principals and volunteers at Success Won’t Wait know just how important summer reading is for students of all ages. According to Study.com, “Summer reading is critical for students to retain knowledge and skills learned in the previous school year. Students who don’t read are at risk of falling behind their classmates.”
While parents can avoid this by making sure kids take time to read, sometimes finding just the right book to inspire a child is difficult. And, that’s where Success Won’t Wait steps in!
This week, volunteers culled through the collection of donated books and provided 200+ K-5 children’s books – many in Spanish – to Delaware’s Wilson Elementary School PTA. These books will be distributed to the children before the school year ends, to ensure that the dreaded “summer brain drain” is kept at bay.
