Fall is just around the corner and that means… back to school! To help kids get ready to start the year off right, A Helping Hand, Delaware is collecting essential school supplies for Delaware children, K-5th grade. Still needed items include backpacks, notebooks, markers… basically everything kids need for back to school.
And, in conjunction with the giveaway of these supplies, Success Won’t Wait has donated 150 children’s books, from engaging picture books, to emerging reader, to challenging chapter books. Kids will be able to select a great book to take home (and hopefully brush up a bit on their reading before school starts!).
Why is Success Won’t Wait involved, and why do we think a school supply drive is so important?
According to the recent NSSEA article The Importance of School Supplies for Student Success, “Adequate school supplies are fundamental to a student’s success in the educational environment. These tools are not merely accessories; they are essential resources that significantly influence learning outcomes. The relationship between access to school supplies and educational performance highlights the critical role these resources play in shaping an effective learning environment.”
Unfortunately, far too many families across the state are unable to finance the level of supplies required by schools, making this drive vital. The final day of the drive is Sunday, August 24. The drop off location is 500 Caledonia Way, Bear Delaware (behind Oberle Elementary School) from 11:00 am – 1:30 pm. For more information, please text (302) 363-3681.
